Our Goal: Our goal is to send a message of awareness and hope for all those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. For each bottle sold, $1 will be donated to select non-profit groups that support the fight against breast cancer. We hope that you will enjoy this wine and remember that Life is a gift; Untie the ribbon!
History of the Pink Ribbon: The first ribbon created as an awareness symbol was in the early 1970's when yellow ribbons were tied around trees across America. The "ribbon" became a medium to send a message of support. In 1991, the Komen Foundation handed out pink ribbons to participants in its New York City race. From there, the pink ribbon rapidly became a symol for breast cancer awareness and support.
The Wine: Pink Ribbon Wine is the same as August Hill Winery's very popular Sweet Catawba wine. It is a light, sweet, and fruity blush wine that pairs well with light fish dishes, cheese and crackers, or friends who just want to sip and relax.
Contributor: Kathy Butzen, Prairie and Vine, Villa Park had the original idea of creating a private wine label that would promote breast cancer awareness while raising funds to donate to organizations that support those in all stages of the breast cancer fight. Kathy also assisted AHW with the label design.
Donations: Since Pink Ribbon was created in 2008, we've donated over $7,250 to various organizations!
The following organizations have received donations:
